Annual, 15-35 mm tall. Stems erect, leafy, simple or branched, pubescent. Leaves 10-30 x 1-2 mm, linear-lanceolate; pubescent, base clasping at the noder. Bracts similar to leaves, but smaller, pubescent. Flowers 1-3, in axillary clusters Pediceis 4-20 mm, pubescent. Calyx 8-9 mm, campanulate, broader in pubescent, especially on the nerves; teeth lanceolate, ciliate; nerves greenish. Petals absent or not. Carpophore 1-2 mm, glabrous. Capsule 6-7 mm, globose, included in the calyx. Seeds 1-2 mm, grooved at the back, with 2 undulate wings on sides.
