SUMMARY
♦ Polycarpon tetraphyllum (L.) L., Syst. Nat. ed. 10, 1: 881 (1759).
Annual herb, erect or procumbent, 6-10 cm tall, much branched at the base, glabrous. Leaves opposite, 2-4 together, obovate-oblanceolate or elliptic, 5-8 mm long, narrowed into a short petiole; stipules entirely scarious. Inflorescence dense, cymose. Flowers small, pedicellate; bracts scarious. Sepals strongly keeled, boat shaped, longer than the petals 1-2 mm long, acutely apiculate. Stamens 3. Fruit capsule, ovoid, 3-toothed, shorter than the sepals.
