SUMMARY
♦ Rumex nervosus Vahl, Symb. Bot. 27 (1790). (Fig. 69).
Dioecious or monoecious shrub, erect, up to 2 m tall, much branched. Leaves often crowded on short striate lateral branchlets, lanceolate to elliptic, 4-6 cm long, base cuneate, fleshy, glabrous. Inflorescence a lax reddish leafless panicle. Flowers unisexual, arranged in axillary and terminal panicles, the male and female flowers on the same panicle or on even separete plants. Outer sepals reflexed, inner sepals in fruit cordate-orbicular. Male flowers with 9 stamens. Female flowers with inner fruiting perianth of different shades of red to orange to straw coloured, oribicular to reniform.
