General description:
Adenium obesum (Forssk.) Roem. & Schult. Syst. Nat. iv: 411 (1819). Flora of Saudi Arabia, Jizan.
Adenium arabicum Balf. f.
Shrub, erect, up to 2.5 m tall, often flowering when the plant is leafless. Stems grossly swollen and succulent, bark pruple brown, smooth. Leaves spirally arranged, sessile, obovate-oblong, apex mucronate and botuse to rounded, gradually narrowed to the base, pubescent or glabrous. Flowers red or pink in terminal cymes. Calyx pubescent, 0.5-1cm long. Corolla large, pubescent outside, 1.5-4 cm long. Fruit pod like capsule, 10 cm long. Seeds woolly.
