SUMMARY
Annual or perennial trailing or climbing vines. Tendrils simple, unbranched, or proximately 2-4 - branched, sometimes absent. Leaves deeply pinnately lobed, the lobes further lobed. Flower usually solitary. Male flowers with broadly campanulate hypanthium; sepals narrow; corolla yellow, deeply lobed; stamens 3, 2 double, 2 - thecous, 1 single, 1 thecous, free; thecae linear, flexuous. Female flowers with calyx and corolla similar to male flowers, staminodes 3; style short, stigma 3 - lobed; ovary hairy. Fruit with a firm rind, globose to ellipsoid.
