Perennial herb, erect up to 40 cm tall, dichotomously much branched, branches pubescent, base woody. Leaves opposite or whorled, sessile, lanceolate, 1.5-3.5 cm long, Flowers in dense, axillary, pedunculate clusters. Bracts plumosely, finely branched. Sepals green, oblong-linear, 3-4 mm long, hooded, tip spinescent. Petals yellow-green, shorter than the sepals. Fruit achene with enlarged bristly bracts.
